Buenos Aires, Jan 22 (NA) — Former model Anamá Ferreira filed a criminal complaint with the City's Specialized Prosecutor's Office for Gender-Based Violence. The complaint concerns publications with "discriminatory and xenophobic content" attributed to the media-known "Gigolo", Javier Bazterrica, on the social network Instagram. According to the complaint accessed by the Argentine News Agency, the filing requests the opening of proceedings and "urgent measures", considering that the publications constitute "targeted digital violence" against a woman, with content aggravated by national origin and racialization. According to the document, Ferreira reported that Bazterrica, who presents himself on Instagram as "Javi Bax" and uses the verified account @elgigolooficial, would have published stories with a photo of Anama containing "unequivocally racist and xenophobic expressions and symbols". Among the material attached to the complaint are screenshots of stories where phrases such as "Zoo asks for banana donations for the chimpanzee @anamaferreira" and "Argentina took your hunger away in the shitty country where you were born" can be read. Ferreira stated that the publications "have a massive audience and immediate replication", and that the content "humiliates, dehumanizes, stigmatizes and promotes social hostility", in addition to affecting her "personal, social and professional life". The complainant also referred to the fact that Bazterrica "has a criminal record for fraud in 2019", according to journalistic publications, and that this aggravates the "risk of repetition" and the "media impunity profile" with which the accused would operate. In her filing, signed by lawyer Rodrigo Tripolone, Ferreira requested that the Prosecutor's Office order the accused to cease harassment, preserve digital evidence, request information from Meta Platforms Inc, implement protective measures, and remove the reported content. Finally, the document requests the intervention of the specialized Prosecutor's Office, the adoption of urgent measures, and a possible suspension or disabling of the @elgigolooficial account if the digital attack is repeated.
